When researching into horror magazines, I have researched
similar styles of horror magazines such as the ones shown below called
Fangoria. It was necessary for me to research such genres as tthis magazine because if I was to research into other genres like comedy then this would make my magazine not effective to its target audience. These genres of magazines would have different conventions compared
to other genres like comedy films. I recognised such conventions as bold texts,
strong use of colour schemes and images that are weird and creepy to the eye.
Fangoria is the brand I chose to research for my magazines for their use of
these creepy images and outstanding colours they have used in their front
covers. The first one I researched into was the Fangoria with the insidious
issue. Fangoria have used a different style of text with using both edges of
the text as a point for fangs which are linked with vampires which resembles
the villain in films.
The next section about their front covers I will incorporate
into my magazine front cover is the colour scheme , shown in these two they
keep their colours to three main with red, white and black. Something I will
carry on into my magazine as I believe this is effective, without keeping g to an
overall colour scheme would leave my audience to question the magazine because
using random colours would look unprofessional and confusing. I have implemented
this colour scheme to my magazine front cover and also follow the one we have
used in the trailer and also my other media product the magazine poster which
follows this colour scheme as well. My main image for my front cover will be
such as the style and positioning like seen in my research. Fangoria uses bold
images which help the magazine to stand out from others in this genre. This kind
of image which has been used in my research is bold and creepy at the same
time, both front covers have used this style of image of one image and not
multiple which may clutter the front cover, so using one image is what I will
use in my front cover to make my front more effective.
